What do I need to know about worship at First Baptist Tallapoosa?
Sunday morning worship begins at 11:00 am.
We meet every 1st and 3rd Sunday evening at 6:00pm.
At First Baptist Tallapoosa, our worship is all inclusive because, as the Psalmist writes, "One generation shall commend Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts" (Psalm 145:4, ESV).
At First Baptist Tallapoosa, we believe that where the Spirit of The Lord is there is freedom, hope, boldness, and glory given to The Lord. Paul, writing to the Corinthians, calls this ministry the ministry of the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:8).
Freedom and Glory- Paul specifically states, "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom" (2 Cor. 3:17, ESV). The Apostle John quotes Jesus' comments on worship: "the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth" (John 4:23-24, ESV). We desire truthful worshippers at First Baptist Tallapoosa. When people are truthful about their sinfulness and allow the Scriptures to reveal, to the soul, God's answer for their sinfulness, people approach worship with a spirit that gives honor and glory to The Lord.
Hope and Boldness- Paul also tells the Corinthian believers, "Since we have such a hope (which comes from the ministry of the Spirit), we are very bold" (2 Corinthians 3:12, ESV). There is no greater hope than is found in Christ Jesus; therefore, we desire to worship boldly through praise, adoration, and confession.
Worship planning is a process of praying for guidance from The Holy Spirit. While we will always have an order or worship, we also believe that following Spirit's guidance throughout the worship experience can lead us in a different direction. Our desire is to always follow the Spirit.
The Word of God is "living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12, ESV).
Since we are a congregation that is all inclusive, our music must also be all inclusive. Our musical genres include Southern Gospel, traditional hymns, and what you hear on your favorite Christian radio station. Remember, our goal is not to produce a concert, instead, it is to create an environment where people of all generations will experience an encounter with God.
We believe that people, when so moved by The Holy Spirit, should have the opportunity in corporate worship to share their experience of God's mighty works in their lives.
